After breaking onto the scene during his sophomore season in which he propelled George Wythe HS to a 26-3 record (12-0 in conference) and a state semifinal berth, Malik Johnson has his sights firmly set on a very specific goal.
"I'd like to improve defensively, go undefeated, and win a state title," Johnson said.
It may seem like a lofty prediction, but given his performances last year for the Maroons, Johnson's prediction doesn't really seem too far-fetched. He understands it will take a collective effort to replicate and perhaps improve on last season's success.
"We just gotta come together as one, and have better team chemistry," he said.
At 6'4, Johnson is a combo-guard who has an excellent blend of size and skill. He is comfortable as the primary ball handler, and often makes advanced reads. He also has a very good stroke from the perimeter. He is an underrated rebounder as well.
"I feel like I have an all around game," Johnson began. "I can score the ball. I can pass the ball. I can do a little bit of everything. Anything the team needs."
