From elite players becoming even more recognizable on the national scene to players making way onto college radars for the first time, there has been a lot of movement within the class. The players’ stocks continue to rise and here are a few that really emerged throughout July.
Javonte Smart and Joshua Leblanc were both in our preview Stock Riser group for the class of 2018 and that didn’t slow down in July. Smart (Scotlandville) continued to burst onto the national scene with big performances at the Peach Jam and camps. Leblanc (Madison Prep) got his chance to shine as well in Vegas, at UAA Finals, and again at camps such as the UAA All-American camp where he was one of only a handful of 2018 prospects.
Tyrece Radford continues his climb as well and the six foot guard out of McKinley put on impressive scoring displays throughout the summer with YGLA. No game was out of reach for YGLA thanks to Radford’s ability to score 40 in any given game. Eric Reed of University High and Louisiana Future has been on our radar as a big time athletic guard with blossoming skills for quite a while now and that didn’t change on bit. They came out on top in a big battle with Redford and YGLA at LA12.
Jamarr Chase from Archbishop Rummel plays with Jet Life Athletics and improved throughout the summer. He made it onto one of our player of the week nominations with his play for a team that won a lot of games. DeVaughn Thomas of Comeaux showed off his athleticism and scoring ability from both the post and perimeter throughout the summer and his stock is rising continuously. He’s a player we will monitor as a potential sleeper to jump high in the rankings in the future.
The last few players whose stock rose weren’t really on our radar prior to July. Dantrieze Scott from Ferriday is a big 6’5 forward who plays football as well. He could develop into a college prospect if he continues to grow. Marquie Mosley is a combo guard out of Ellender who has a very good team heading into next year. His ability to light up the scoreboard the way Radford does earned him a spot in our future rankings. Lastly is 6’5 forward out of Carencro Braylon Chaisson who you should be familiar with after the past week or two. He really caught our eye at LA12 and college coaches were saying the same.
