Over the Spring half 40 teams from across the country competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Entering the season each team had one goal in mind, qualify for the Nike Peach Jam.

Athletes First the only Nike sponsored team in the state had hopes to make a return to the Nike Peach Jam in 2015. The EYBL is regarded by most to be the best circuit in the country. The team looked much different with the loss of Arizona signee Allonzo Trier, but showed promise in the opening weekend of the EYBL going 4-0 in Hampton, Virginia.

2016 Shooting Guard Curtis Haywood II stole the show in Hampton averaging over 15 points per game in his Nike EYBL debut. He was out last season with an ankle injury. Haywood II credits the success he had on the floor in Hampton to the man upstairs and his hard work.

"I just played hard and prayed God would guide me through my first session," Haywood II said. "During the Hampton session everything was working out for me."

Athletes First followed their strong performance in Hampton with a tough showing in the second session
