Joe Wieskamp (Muscatine) 18.7 ppg, 40 3FG%, 6.1 rpg
Our No. 2 ranked 2018, Wieskamp exceeded everyone’s expectations during his freshman campaign and made a serious case to be the top-ranked prospect in our new rankings coming soon.
Joe Weber (Boyer Valley) 15 ppg, 3.7 apg, 2.1 spg
Weber was the second leading scorer in the state among freshmen and the second best assist-man, he also swiped an impressive 2.1 steals per game.
Elijah Hazekamp (Bishop Heelan) 10.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg
The 6-foot-4 Iowa Barnstormer forward nearly came away with a double-double average in his first season of varsity ball, the future is now for this impressive freshman.
Jason Taylor (Rock Valley) 9.5 ppg, 58 FG%, 7.7 rpg, 2.5 bpg
A 6-foot-11 center, Taylor led all freshman with 2.5 blocks per game, and nearly put together a double-double average to boot. He’s a bonafide Division I prospect from the 2018 class.
Luke Vaske (Norwalk) 9.5 ppg, 44 3FG%, 3.7 apg
The Iowa Barnstormer led a talented group in Norwalk while shooting the ball exceptionally well and dishing out a 2018 best 3.7 assists per game.
Second Team
AJ Green (Cedar Falls) 8.1 ppg, 40 3FG%, 2.3 apg
A very promising young talent with silky handles, Green spearheaded a Cedar Falls team which features two of the best freshman in the state.
Brady Sartorius (Mt. Pleasant) 13 ppg, 44 3FG%, 82 FT%, 2.3 spg
This Iowa Barnstormer product did everything well for a Mt. Pleasant team that which started four freshmen this season.
R.J. Harris (AHSTW, Avoca) 13 ppg, 41 3FG%, 83 FG%, 3.2 rpg
High scoring, great shooting and rebounding to boot, the future is bright in Avoca with Harris running the show.
Wes Wynkoop (Northeast Hamilton, Blairsburg) 8.7 ppg, 56 FG%, 9.4 rpg
His high rebounding and scoring numbers land him on this list, he’ll be a shoo-in to average a double-double next season for the Trojans.
Trey LaBeaux (Cedar Falls) 9.6 ppg, 52 FG%, 5.4 rpg
Another great freshman for the Tigers, the Iowa Barnstormer product was as efficient as he was productive as he impressed during his freshman campaign.
Third Team
Ryan Miller (North Linn) 13.8 ppg, 1.9 spg
Miller was the third leading scorer among freshman this season and can get it done defensively too.
Andrew Blum (Glenwood) 8.2 ppg, 43 3FG%, 3.9 rpg
He was able to show his stuff during the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena earlier this month, and he along with freshman teammate Nate Mohr will be stars moving forward for the Rams.
Carter Boothe (Cenreal Decatur) 5.8 ppg, 2.8 apg, 1.6 spg, 3.2 rpg
The do-it-all guard blossomed during his freshman season with the Cardinals — scoring, assisting, stealing and rebounding.
Grant Dirks (Center Point-Urbana) 9.8 ppg, 1.1 bpg, 4.9 rpg
Equally effective on offense and defense, Dirks has a chance to be a star for the Stormin’ Pointers in the coming years.
Justin Blackman (Dubuque, Senior) 9.1 ppg, 37 3FG%
He was the second leading scorer for Dubuque, Senior and with star big-man Luke McDonnell headed to Northern Iowa next year, he’ll be the young leader for the Rams.

Jayden Mauldin (George-Little Rock) 12 ppg, 4 rpg
BJ Rodgers (WACO, Wayland) 12 ppg, 1.7 spg
