Jared Ridder is headed to Missouri State
Former Mr. Show-Me Basketball Jared Ridder is coming back home to Springfield.
The Class of 2017 Kickapoo standout announced on Monday night that he will be attending Missouri State University in his home town. Ridder’s commitment to Missouri State comes one week after his announcement that he was transferring from Xavier University.
Ridder will sit out the 2017-18 season via NCAA transfer rules, then he will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2018-19 season. A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Ridder becomes one of the Bears’ highest rated recruits in years.
As a senior at Kickapoo, Ridder averaged 24 points and seven rebounds a game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range in leading the Chiefs to a third-place finish in the Class 5 state tournament.
In his three years as a starter for Kickapoo, Ridder led the Chiefs to a 78-13 record, which included two trips to the Class 5 Final Four. As a junior, Kickapoo finished second in the Class 5 state tournament. He finished his career as Kickapoo’s all-time leading scorer.
