C.J. Walker discusses state title, offers/interest and more
Forward C.J. Walker made the move over to Orlando Christian Prep last season after playing at Seminole as a freshman.
The transfer paid huge dividends for the 6’7″ 2019 prospect. Orlando Christian Prep beat Deltona Trinity Christian 78-48 to capture its eighth state title since 2008.
Walker grew up in a hurry playing alongside 2018 starters Ronaldo Segu and Nassir Little.
Currently, Walker ranks No. 5 in our 2019 class player rankings. He has 19 Division-I offers to choose from.
The list includes Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, FSU, UCF, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Memphis, UF, Miami, Auburn, St. Louis, Vanderbilt, Wichita State, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, USF, TCU Mississippi State and LSU.
He says Arizona, North Carolina and UCLA are three college programs that are showing him the most interest right now.
As he heads into his junior season, Walker points to his versatility, explosiveness, help side defense, motor and taking his man off the dribble as his biggest strengths. He’s looking to improve his outside dribbling this season.
Walker called coming to Orlando Christian Prep a “great move.”
“Playing with guys like Rondo and Nas was fun because they really taught me a lot,” he said. “They also brought fans out so it helped with me playing in front of a big crowd.”
This summer, Walker split time between E1T1 United and Game Elite. He says he learned a lot playing on the Adidas Circuit as he saw a lot of new competition.
Walker is an explosive athlete. When he finds room in the paint look out, he’ll make you pay with a dunk or a fancy layup. He’s still growing and maturing on the court and that means there is so much untapped potential with him. Walker and the Warriors will flourish once again in Class 3A so look for him to take the next step forward in his progressions.
