2020 Michigan Grassroots Player Of The Year
Earlier we looked at the voting results for the 2019 Grassroots Player Of The Year: 2019 Michigan Grassroots Player Of The Year
Now we’ll look at the 2020 Michigan Grassroots Player Of The Year. Fans, coaches, and players nominated and voted for these four players: Lorne Bowman, Carlos Johnson, Jamoni Jones, and Jalen Terry.
The final voting results were as follows:
Jalen Terry: 46%
Lorne Bowman: 24%
Carlos Johnson: 18%
Jamoni Jones: 12%
Jamoni Jones (PG, East Kentwood, Greenwood Elite)
Jones has cemented himself as a Division 1 recruit. He’s an energy player who makes hustle plays. His motor can be seen on the defensive end, where he continues to be an elite perimeter defender. Jones was solid from behind the arc this summer and was a great finisher around the rim.
Carlos Johnson (F, Benton Harbor, The Family)
Johnson played up for much of the grassroots season, and even competing against the toughest competition, never missed a beat. He is easily a top 100 talent in the country. Johnson is a monster on the court, proving to be physically and athletically superior to his opponents. He’s an elite rebounder and defender.
Lorne Bowman (PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, REACH Legends)
Bowman continues to rise up recruiting boards thanks to an outstanding summer with REACH Legends. He’s a fast and smooth floor general. Bowman is incredibly efficient, especially in a fast paced game. He’s an explosive scorer who flat out blows past defenders. Bowman looks to be a Division 1 High major recruit.
Jalen Terry (PG, Flint Beecher, The Family)
Terry cemented himself as a Division 1 high major recruit while being a floor leader for The Family. He’s one of the best pure athletes in the country and is an explosive finisher. Terry is a super fast point guard who has the leaping ability to play above the rim. He’s an electric finisher who is a spark plug for his team.
