Congratulations to All Ohio Red for finishing the season as Ohio’s top 17U team. They’ve been slotted in that spot for some time now. And mostly, nothing drastic changed near the top in July.
However, past the top six teams, there’s plenty of movement. Teams like TNBA Ohio, Ohio Hoopsters – Nakasian, and others took it up a notch to finish the grassroots season and have been rewarded for their final performance.
# | 17U Team | Notes | Previous |
---|---|---|---|
| All Ohio Red | Red went 5-1 at the AAU Super Showcase to end the season. Their overall résumé includes first place finishes at the Run N Slam, Nike Summer Championship, and Nike Cup and a winning percentage of 72 percent, including EYBL games. | 1 |
| C2K Elite | C2K went winless in Vegas last weekend. Nonetheless, qualifying for the UAA Finals is a major accomplishment in year two of existence. | 2 |
| Nova (James) | Nova, who won the Super 16 and Session II of the adidas Gauntlet Silver, was 3-2 at the GRBA. They also played in a super pool last weekend and made it to the round of 16. | 3 |
| D Miller Elite | D Miller Elite played in a super pool at the Louisville JamFest and finished 2-2, losing in the first round. Without PG Giovanni Santiago, they weren't the same team in July. Yet, their overall track record of a winning percentage of 76 percent and final four finish at Run N Slam gets them to no. 4. | 5 |
| All Ohio Gold | Gold slides into the top five after an 8-0 weekend in the 17U Silver division of the Fab 48 in Vegas. They were 15-3 in July and also played in Ballin Under 1 Roof and the Nike Summer Championship. | 6 |
| TNBA Flash | TNBA Flash finished up in Atlantic City at an Elevate Hoops event and made it to the finals. They cleaned up on local tourneys in the spring, placing first at the Solon Cage Clasic, NEO Make It Rain Fest, Showdown in Massillon, and Chicago Summer Slam (July). | 4 |
| Nova (Russell) | Despite not playing on Sunday in Louisville, Nova impressed in their final tourney. They played in a super pool and went 2-1. | 8 |
| Northwest Ohio Basketball Club | NW Ohio finished strong with a 4-1 weekend at the loaded Las Vegas Classic. They made it to the round of 16 in their bracket. | 7 |
| Apex | A week after winning a top bracket at the All In HoopFest, Apex went 3-1 in Orlando. They were 12-3 in July after being ranked no. 11 after spring. | 9 |
| TNBA Ohio | TNBA Ohio's performance at the GRBA matched their talent, going 3-2 and beating Dayton Metro during bracket play. They were placed in a super pool in Fort Wayne. | 14 |
| Ohio Hoopsters - Nakasian | How do you move up six spots in one weekend? You go 7-1 at the GRBA — only losing by two points to an EYBL team — and beat Michigan Playmakers, Indy Heat Red, and others along the way. (Also, teams no. 10 through no. 18 are all really close. So that allows major movement in that range on a week-to-week basis). | 17 |
| Dayton Metro | Dayton Metro was 3-1 in Fort Wayne and finished July with a 12-4 record. | 11 |
| Mid Ohio Pumas | Pumas didn't play last weekend. | 10 |
| Ohio Basketball Club | OBC finally played near Ohio again and was 2-2 at the Louisville JamFest in a super pool. They've dealt with injuries all season and we expect the program to fully rebound in 2019. Fluky season for Ohio's adidas affiliate. | 13 |
| Miller Factory | Miller Factory had their high point of the season with a 6-0 weekend in Louisville. They won the top South bracket and finished July with an 11-3 record. | 16 |
| All Ohio Black | Black was placed in a super pool in Fort Wayne and went 1-4 overall. Otherwise a super strong July for this All Ohio team. | 12 |
| Ohio Reign | Ohio Reign was 2-2 in Fort Wayne, losing in the first round of bracket play. It was their least impressive weekend in an otherwise strong July, where they were 9-4. | 15 |
| Shining Star - Price | SS - Price didn't play last weekend. | 18 |
| TNBA East Black | TNBA East Black maintained their top 20 status with a 2-2 weekend in Fort Wayne. | 20 |
| Ohio Hoopsters - LBC | OH-LBC — last week's unofficial no. 21 team — outperformed Nova (Rodgers) to sneak into the final rankings. They were 4-2 in Louisville. | NR |
