Michael Bothwell (2018) leads list of six sweet shooters in Northeast Ohio
Northeast Ohio prep basketball rosters are stocked with sharpshooters. Here is a list of some of the players with the best radar that can torch a defense with the best of them:
Michael Bothwell (2018), Cornerstone
He’s a throwback to the old ABA days. Can score from various spots on the court, but is pretty deadly from distance. Shoots a high-arching jumper that often finds the bottom of the net.
Trent Williams (2019), Solon
Just something about this Williams form is so pure and perfect. Gets good lift off the ground and can repeat his technique time after time.
PJ Flannery, (2018) St. Edward
This guy can really light it up. The son of a coach often finds himself around the ball for an inside bucket at crucial moments, but can also bomb from downtown. The announcer for Ed’s live stream of games dubbed him “Three J. Flannery.”
Dorian Crutcher (2018), Elyria Catholic
The kid had 52 3s on the year entering the games of Feb. 2 and was averaging 19 points per contest. A big-time scorer who can finish at the rim and creates off the dribble with a very tough spin move.
Seth Wilson, (2021), St. V.
Is connecting on 41 percent of his 3s. Hit a big one late before a packed house on the road at Garfield Heights in December to force overtime.
Meechie Johnson (2021), Garfield Heights
I nominated him because of his 50 piece game and I trust the word of Benedictine’s coach Rob Stircula whose Benedictine gave up the 50 piece. “I think he’s a pretty good shooter. He hit his first five 3s against us.”
Other notables:
Kyle Goessler (2019) Brunswick, Niko Melendez (2018) St. Ignatius, RJ Smith, (2018) North Ridgeville, Demetrius Terry (2019), St. Edward.
