Recruiting Report: Caleb South (2018)
When people think of Caleb South (2018), they imagine a high scoring dynamic guard for the Bethel Bees. What Caleb wants everyone to know is he is more than a scorer. He’s a leader, he’s a playmaker, and he’s a rising star.
Caleb has had a great summer. He feels confidence and excitement for high school ball to start.
”I’m excited and humbled for the opportunity ahead of senior year”.
Like I previously mentioned, Caleb has been notorious for being a big time scorer throughout his time with Bethel. Maybe you heard about his 46 point performance against Anna in the sectional final last year. What many don’t know is, he can do more than score. He has led the Bees in rebounding, assists, and scoring for the past 3 years he has been a member of the varsity team. What’s even more impressive is Caleb has been a leader for the team since he was a freshman.
Even with all the skills he has, Caleb wants to improve on his shooting consistency. He can knock down long range shots and even can beat guys one-on-one, but once he can do all that on a consistent basis he’ll be a true offensive weapon.
Last year, Bethel was blown out in the district title game to a Roger Bacon team that ended up playing for a state title in Columbus last year. Now, South is back, Roger Bacon has lost a lot, and the Bees are one of two teams that have a real shot of being Dayton’s top D3 team in November. Caleb’s goal goes a little further.
“I want to continue to be something my parents and everyone who has my last name and comes from my township can be proud of and give everything I have for my school”.
His attitudes and talents are the main reason why he has received interest from several schools throughout his first 3 seasons at Bethel. With his talents, I truly believe Caleb South is for sure a D2 caliber player and even has the talents to be a D1 player at the collegiate
