Prospect Spotlight: Keith Jackson (2018) & Isaiah Higgins
Programs looking for a 2-guard should watch Cleveland Heights’ Keith Jackson (2018).
Jackson is a silky smooth 6’4” guard with athleticism. His offensive game is predicated on his midrange jumper, which he hits with regularity, and this summer he’s added an attacking dribble drive to his offensive arsenal, according to his summer league coach Mark Chapman.
“His pull up game is real good. He’s started attacking this summer and he’s been rebounding real well, too,” Chapman said of Jackson’s play this summer for Cleveland Heights in the Earl Boykins Summer League.
Jackson showed flashes of offensive talent a year ago when he scored 17 points in Heights’ win over New Day in a performance in which he knocked down five 3-pointers. He also averaged 13.5 points per game in two games against a very athletic Lorain squad. He is quick off the dribble and has the ability to stop on the dime and elevate which allows him to get off that mid-range jumper of blow by a defender and get to the cup.
“I’m an all around player. I love to play defense. I’m a team player and I get my teammates involved,” said Jackson.
He’s also a solid passer and ball handler, according to his high school coach Jeremy Holmes.
Jackson said after an up-and-down season a year ago for the Tigers (13-10) the chemistry on this year’s team is much better, which should translate to more wins.
“I grew up with these guys. Our senior year we want to bring home a state championship,” said Jackson.
Another sleeper for the Tigers could Isaiah Higgins (2018) who at 6’4” and a big body plays with a lot of energy and during his team’s two two summer league games On July 26 showed an ability to rebound and score inside.
Isaiah Higgins“A lot of energy and toughness,” Higgins said when asked what he looks to bring to his team.
In a win over Shaker Heights Higgins showed explosion and quickness when he finished on a spin move in the lane he also plays football.
