If the NBA Finals taught us anything it is that versatility is the number one skill players need to possess now days. While there is still room for specialist in the game, being effective at filling multiple roles on the court keeps you on the court in today’s game. And in watching Ohio Unity/Mason High School W/F Noah Pedelty play, you can see that versatility is the main aspect of his game.
Noah immediately pointed to defense as the area that he was looking to improve in the most during the AAU season. “The coaches at Mason are big on defense, and during AAU there is not a lot of defense being played,” Pedelty stated. “Playing good on the defensive end can help win a lot of games, especially in AAU.” With Noah athleticism and size at 6’4, he has the ability to guard multiple positions and is a very sound help defender. He has the lateral quickness to guard smaller players and length to guard bigger players.
On the offensive end, Pedelty has a very, very versatile offensive game. When asked whether he prefers playing without the ball or with the ball in his hands he stated, “I am fine either way, but I like to have the ball in my hands. I like to pass the ball and get my teammates involved as well,” said Noah. And it is evident in watching him play that this is true. Noah is a high IQ player who is very good in pick and roll situations and can shoot off the catch and dribble. And because of his shooting ability and solid ball handling ability, it makes him that much more dangerous in getting to the rim and his first step much quicker. He just seems to always make the right decisions with the ball.
As for his goals for next season with the Comets, Noah made his goals plain and simple. “Winning the GMC is one of my goals since I have never won the conference. Also going as far as we can go in the tournament as well,” he stated. When asked about any interest he has received at the next level, Pedelty named schools from all three divisions including Boston College, Youngstown State, Malone, Findlay, Ashland, Hillsdale and Ohio Dominican as schools who have expressed interest in him. Noah also states that he has taken his ACT and that he is waiting on the results.
If you are a coach at the next level looking for a versatile wing/guard, Pedelty could be the man that you are looking for.
