Continue ReadingBellbrook junior Donnie Crouch (2018) is a young player who has made a name for himself at Bellbrook High School this season, but still looks to improve parts of his game. “Individually I feel that I’ve improved in many aspects this season by becoming a stronger leader and a scorer. However, I’m never fully satisfied with my game and look to continue to grow as a player and a leader through AAU”. The Golden Eagles had a rough season finishing 6-17, but Donnie is one of several returning players hoping to make a turnaround next season.
When I watch Donnie on the court, I see a player who has the ball-handling skills of a point guard and shooting touch of a shooting guard. This young man can play either position, but more than likely will play shooting guard at the next level. Donnie tells me his greatest strength is his leadership and his ability to make his teammates better. His team leading 14.6 points per game and 1.9 assists per game back this up. When he is not scoring points in high amounts, Donnie is a great passer and really puts his teammates in position to score. I also asked him what he would like to improve on. He told me “my court vision and ability to get my teammates open”. With Donnie’s hard working attitude and strong work ethic I expect him to improve on these and be ready to lead the Golden Eagles come next November.
I also talked with Donnie about seeing Bellbrook basketball improve and returning to their winning ways. “The sky is truly the limit with this team. I see us as being the turning point of this program by restoring a winning culture. Many have counted us out, but I see a great future for Bellbrook basketball”. Bellbrook plays in the SWBL which includes team like Franklin and Brookville who were top 10 ranked teams in their respective divisions this year. If the Eagles wish to compete with teams like these they will need Donnie to help them.
Several schools have expressed interest in Donnie. These schools include: Albion, The King’s college, Wittenberg, and Capital. Donnie also tells me before the season he was in contact with Middle Tennessee University, but hasn’t heard from them recently. The way Donnie plays though, more schools at the Division 1 level will show interest in him. Donnie is a name to watch in Dayton next year.
