Trey Mack to St Thomas!
St. Ignatius 2017 Trey Mack is a 6’1” lefty point guard with solid strength. As a senior he has taken on the role of go to scorer and leader for St. Ignatius. Mack seems more assertive this year with the ball in his hands. Attacks downhill and has the ability to split defenders in traffic. Jumper can be streaky at times, but he shoots it with good form and they dropped when we saw him play live. Moves well without the ball and finishes through contact at the rim. Mack is a vocal defender that makes sure his teammates are in the right positions.
After narrowing his choices down to four in Loras, St Thomas, Hope, and St Norbert Mack made his call on Sunday night! He has committed to the University of St Thomas.
“St. Thomas was just the best fit for me on and off the court. The coaching staff and players there made me feel like I was already a part of the family. Now it’s time to continue the championship culture!!”
Mack also spoke about his senior season at St. Ignatius.
“It is going good. Being a senior leader I have to be more aggressive than usual. Talk more than I already am. Being that leader that everybody can come to on the court. I have been playing fine.”
He ran with the Hoopers/Celtics this past summer on the circuit.
“I got a lot of good exposure playing with Nana (Akenten) which always brought coaches to the games. I was able to open up some eyes. I went there to play with my brothers so it was good.”
What does he feel he will bring to his future college?
“I try to bring as much as possible. I don’t want to say just shooting or just passing. I try to do anything possible to win. Slashing, shooting, playing defense. Anything the coach needs me to do to win.”
