The 6-foot junior picked up his first offer from Michigan D2 Northwood University at the end of July, and has already visited the Midland-based school.
“The one thing I liked about there is that everyone made me feel like I was at home,” said Rice. “And I feel like I’d be safe if I went to school there.”
He mentioned other programs that he’s been seeing some interest from.
“I’m getting looks from Akron, Kent State, Ohio, West Virginia sends me stuff in the mail,” said Rice.
Also a standout on the gridiron, Rice mentioned to PHOH that he’s unsure of which sport — football or basketball — he’d like to pursue at the next level.
“I feel like it’s (recruitment) going to come together pretty well. But I play football right now too, and I don’t know what I want to do in college,” said the junior quarterback.
“Everyone says I’m better at football, but basketball is my main sport.”
Rice cites defense and his shooting ability as his strengths as a point guard, and after playing on the adidas Gauntlet with Ohio Basketball Club 16U he now shifts his focus to his junior season with the Bulldogs.
“When I was a freshman and sophomore we had two guys that could really score, so I was more of a pass-first point guard,” said Rice. “But this year I’ll be more of a scoring point guard.”
