“Right now I’m in contact with Valparaiso, High Point, Colgate, and UT-Martin. Those are all the D1s, and then I have some smaller school interest too; Holy Cross from Indiana just got a hold of me today,” said the 6-foot junior-to-be.
“Valparaiso, I’m going on a visit there soon. And I’ve been texting a lot with the other coaches. I’m not sure which one would be the first to offer, they’re all kind of coming at me the same. But I think that one will offer here soon – I’m just not sure which one.”
While playing his 16U offseason with Hidden Gems, Swackhammer has been working on two things in particular; defense and leadership.
“I’ve become more consistent, not only offensively, but defensively too. I’ve been trying to be solid on defense no matter what’s going on in the game – defense leads into offense. That’s definitely what I’ve been working on the most this offseason,” said Swackhammer.
“I’m going to work on just being a leader and keeping everyone together this summer. Sometimes our guys (on Hidden Gems) get discouraged if we get down, so I’m going to work hard on bringing everyone together.”
With his 16U July live periods just ahead of him, Swackhammer says that he’s just going to play like he would in any other tournament.
“I’m really excited, but being in front of all those coaches I don’t think anything changes,” he said. “You just have to play your game and if they talk to you, they talk to you.”
