Carson Newsome to UW-Milwaukee
Waukegan 2017 shooting guard Carson Newsome closed out his grassroots career this weekend with the Illinois Wolves. On Sunday he began the next chapter with his commitment to UW-Milwaukee.
He told us his relationship with new Head Coach Lavall Jordan and assistant Todd Townsend was the deciding factor.
“You can’t find a better coaching staff than them.”
Newsome is a long and rangy 6’5” shooting guard from Waukegan that has definitely made strides in his game over the last year. He has cut down on the turnovers and increased the range on his jump shot from 15 feet out to beyond the three point arc. Handles are solid and has potential as a passer. Defensively guarding on the perimeter is probably the best part of his game. Length and lateral quickness gives opponents fits.
