Carl Albert has two of the top ten prospects in the 2018 Class with Hopkins on the wing and Mason Harrell at the Point. They have a chance to play in the Class 5A Championship game every year of their high school career.
The first go around for Hopkins and Harrell did not turn out how they wanted with a loss to a veteran Lawton Ike squad. However, Carl Albert finished the job knocking off Tulsa Memorial at the buzzer to clinch the duo’s first title.
Now the question comes can the Titans continue their success with the duo? Prep Hoops Oklahoma thinks so. The Titans are the number 1 ranked team in our Class 5A way too early rankings.
Hopkins has improved immensely over the past year and a half. He has turned into one of the elite talents in the state in the 2018 Class and is making his name known nationally. Hopkins currently has been offered by Nebraska, Boise State and Tulsa. Hopkins is set for another big year for the Titans.
Harrell has not had the best spring and summer on the NIKE EYBL Circuit as he has struggled with his height. However, Harrell has continued to improve game in and game out playing against the best competition across the country. When Harrell returns to Oklahoma high school basketball the NIKE EYBL talent level will pay off. His height will limit his recruitment, but it won’t limit him against Oklahoma high school talent. Expect a big year from Harrell at the Point.
The Titans have some company as the top four team in Class 5A all return tons of talent. Lawton Ike and Tulsa Memorial are in the elite category with Carl Albert. Lawton Ike will be lead by Romio Harvey along with a very talented 2018 group. Kobe Rose is a name to know in the 2017 Class for Tulsa Memorial. Rose continues to prove he is a top 20 talent in the Oklahoma 2017 Class. The sleeper squad outside of the top three is easily El Reno with Callen Haydon leading the way.
Class 5A will be a very fun state tournament next season with the top four head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.
