The No. 11 prospect in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 11 already has an offer from New Orleans and has been in contact with Northern Kentucky, Central Michigan and Indiana State. He already took and unofficial visit to Northern Kentucky.
These coaches see Cushingberry as a guard that can maneuver around and past nearly everyone on the court.
“It helps (being fast) because once I get inside the lane if the big comes to help on me I can dish it off to my bigs or if they don’t I can cut by and lay it up myself,” Cushingberry said.
College coaches see Cushingberry as a true point guard that can run the floor and distribute to teammates, but he is still working on his ability to score on his own and hit the open jumpshot. He can get into the lane thanks to his speed but knows he needs to improve from the outside.
“Working on open shots, my pullup and getting my team involved,” Cushingberry said. “Just need to make open shots.”
While he doesn’t have any timeframe on taking unofficial or official visits given it still being early in his recruiting process, the Lawrence North sophomore does know he is looking for a strong college program on the court and in the classroom.
“I’m looking for a school that’s going to be committed to me and a school I like and can stay for four years and get a good education,” he said.
