SF Kahlil Whitney (Mac Irvin Fire Orange 17U)
The elite freshman from Solorio (for now as he will be transferring) played up on the 17U level for the first time with the Mac Irvin Fire Orange team. He actually looked a little more comfortable with this unit than on the 16U team he usually runs with. Projectable body at 6’6” with long arms and long strides running the floor. Whitney has smooth handles and is best slashing to the basket off the bounce. Great in the transition game as a finisher. Jump shot need some works. Whitney is among the top 2019 prospects in Illinois and has high major potential.
PG Antonio Reeves (Mac Irvin Fire Orange 17U)
Kenwood 6’3” combo guard that has a plus skill. Reeves can flat out shoot the basketball from deep. Projectable frame where he should continue to grow.
SG Myles Baker (Chicago Select 15U)
Baker is a 6’2” shooting guard from Whitney Young. He has smooth handles getting pretty much anywhere he wants on the floor. The athletic and rangy wing gets to the hoop where he finishes around the rim. Plus perimeter shooter as well that has range stretching out to three with ease. Potential defensively as he moves well laterally. Has D1 potential early in the process.
C Taeyon Neal (Chicago Select 15U)
At 6’8” Neal who hails from Providence St. Mel has great size, strength, and length. The young post has a frame that projects long term. Plus shot blocker that is a presence in the lane on the defensive end. Keeps the ball high in the post, but is fairly raw as a post scorer. Passes well on the block when the double comes as well as throwing outlets. Potential D1 prospect.
PG Joseph Yesufu (Chicago Select 15U)
Yesufu has been touted as one of the state’s top lead guards in the class of 2019. He showed what he could do when the ball was put in his hands. Early in the game the Bolingbrook guard was playing off the ball. When the rock was placed in his hands the game changed with his speed and court vision in the open floor. Yesufu has tremendous speed pushing it and blowing by defenders. The strong guard has a slick euro step in the lane that he uses on occasion. Jump shot is a bit streaky. Scoring point guard that is just a playmaker. Already holds on D1 offer from Wisconsin Green Bay. Expect more to follow.
SG Deon Jackson (Chicago Select 15U)
Bouncy Simeon wing that is quick around the basket. Quick baseline drives and hits the offensive glass for put backs. Ability on the defensive end defending opposing wings.
SG Anthony Fairlee (Illinois Irish 15U)
Elite and I mean ELITE athlete! The Springfield Southeast shooting guard got out in transition early in their game for a huge dunk where his head was eye level with the rim. Fairlee also got on the offensive glass for a put back. Didn’t do a whole lot else in the game we saw. The athleticism jumps off the floor. Needs to round out his game.
PF Karl Wright (Illinois Irish 15U)
Long and lanky post that is mobile on the interior. Looks shorter against similar size bigs than I originally thought at probably about 6’4” or 6’5”. Has the frame where he should continue to grow. Bouncy post that is quick off the floor for dunks, but raw other than that. Still has high ceiling and room to grow.
PG Nolan Niego (Chicago Lockdown 15U)
Yes another Niego. This one is a point guard and the Lyons 6’0” lead guard reminds you a lot of his older brother Harrison who was a preferred walk on at Indiana this past season. Tough and hardnosed lead guard that runs the team and gets everyone involved. Vocal leader. Crisp movements. As a scorer Niego displayed he could knock down a three with clean mechanics and hit a runner in the lane.
G Tyrese Shines (Chicago Lockdown 15U)
Long and rangy 6’1” Lyons guard with size. He has speed in transition pushing the ball from end to end. Super athletic finishing around the hoop. One to track closely over the next few years!
