PG Gentry Whiteman (Quad City Elite 17U)
The Rockridge 6’0” combo guard is a big time small school scorer for his high school team. Whiteman can get hot shooting the ball from the perimeter both pulling up and off the catch. Streaky shooter however and needs to bring more to the table when his shot isn’t falling. D3/NAIA prospect.
SF Parker Bland (Quad City Elite 17U)
This Quincy small forward put his name on our radar with his play for Quad City Elite 17U. At 6’4” Bland is slippery through traffic and the lefty has a sweet looking shot. Not a go to scorer, but can be a nice complimentary player at the next level for a D3/NAIA school.
PG Damarquis Henry (All-In Athletics Henry 17U)
Henry is a quick and shifty lead guard that is slick with the ball. Can be a little loose with his handles at times. Got hot from three in the second half of the game we caught. Scoring potential from Zion Benton guard. Small college prospect.
PG Tai Bibbs (Mercury Elite 17U)
Bibbs ranks among the top lead guards in the state’s rising senior class. He was solid, but didn’t really standout with his play. Was in set up mode for most of the weekend. The 6’3” West Chicago lead guard has long arms and a projectable frame. Smooth with the ball and weaves in and out of the defense. Feel for getting others involved. Trouble finishing at the rim in games we saw. Mid-major to low-major prospect.
PF Charlie Bair (Mercury Elite 17U)
Glenbard South 6’5” power forward with good strength and mobility. Bair plays physical on the interior and finishes well through contact. On the block uses a sweet hook shot to score. Tough post defender. Runs the floor well. High level D3 prospect.
SF Rowan McGowen (Mercury Elite Thomas 17U)
The Wheaton North small forward has size at 6’6” with the ability to really shoot the basketball. He is a sound three point threat particularly off the catch. We have known this for a while. What he displayed that we haven’t seen is his passing on the interior and toughness on the glass. High D3/NAIA prospect that could sneak into D2 territory with a big July.
PG Jack Nolan (Mercury Elite 17U)
The Benet guard is one of the top pure shooters in the state of Illinois. He proved that on Benet’s state playoff run and has continued that throughout the spring with Mercury Elite. He had one of his best performances of the spring Friday as he was on fire from deep. Nolan drilled six three pointers on his way to 24 points. He hit several key free throws late to secure the victory over Wisconsin Playground Warriors. Small college shooter that will be great in that role.
PG Bryson Langdon (TAW 17U)
Langdon transferred in from Utah to Kenwood this past year and didn’t play. Expect him to make an impact next year as a senior. The 5’11” lead guard has tremendous speed in transition. Slick ball handler that gets the ball up the floor either in his hands or throwing quick passes ahead. As a scorer the athletic guard like to use the pull up jump shot from mid-range and three. Potential D2 prospect.
PF Cameron Bowles (TAW 17U)
The 6’7” power forward from Homewood Flossmoor has a long and projectable frame. Very mobile running the floor and using his quickness on the interior. Bouncy forward is a solid rebounder. Also showed he could handle it a little and hit a mid-range jump shot. A name we will be monitoring closely over the next few months.
PG Laurence Merritt (TAW 17U)
Merritt is a 5’8” point guard that lets it fly! The St. Patrick’s 2017 prospect played off the ball quite a bit and was effective spotting up for threes. He had one stretch late in the first half where he was on fire from beyond the arc. Would like to see him be more of a floor general at his size. Small college prospect.
