Continue ReadingHinsdale Central 2016 power forward Peter Blust is one of the more intriguing posts remaining on the board in the class of 2016. There are a lot of things to like with the senior post. He has a good frame at 6’7” with long arms and filled out strength. He is light on his feet and moves well running the floor with ease. Blust posts up strong and shows quickness with his moves. He has face up ability from the mid-range. Quality athlete that rebounds fairly well. Worth a look by D2 schools.
Blust talked about his senior season and taking on a more dominant role as a senior.
“I think it is going well. I am doing a lot more than I did in past years and I am fitting into my role nicely. With (Matt) Rafferty gone it was tough, but I knew we needed somebody. I think the team kind of looked to me. I worked so hard in the off season that it kind of came naturally.”
He discussed the strengths in his game as a prospect.
“I would say I am a stretch four. Someone who can step out and is a tough matchup for a lot of teams. Force big guys to come out or force little guys to play in the post.”
On the travel team circuit Blust ran with Fundamental U.
“It went really well. I loved the team I played with and thought we did really good.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“Recruiting is the same. I have a few D2 offers and some D1 interest.”
A trio of D1 schools have checked in on him.
“Miami (OH), American, Furman are the D1 schools showing interest.”
He holds multiple D2 offers.
“Trinity International, Minnesota State Morehead, Lewis, and Hillsdale.”
What will be important in a school for him?
“Academics. I am looking for a place that will challenge me both academically and on the floor. If I find that balance that will be the choice for me.”
