They were an 8-2 team and spent a week in the top ten but then they lost to Maple Grove by 30 points and that started a collapse of ten losses in a dozen games. The Eagles are a team that needs stability and big man James Streeter is a player they will lean on for that stability.
“Big James is playing great for us,” said Totino-Grace Head Coach Robert Ware. “He is averaging 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks a game, he has really stepped up for us.
“His attitude is very positive and he has been a great teammate and player to have on the team. James has worked extremely hard on his body loosing around 25 pounds and turning it into muscle.
“I also like how he has worked on his post game and working on getting stronger position near the block. This has helped us out a lot being that he has soft touch around the basket, and he is one of our stronger passers which is nice from a post player.”
Streeter is the Eagles third leading scorer behind Rocky Kreuser (16.5) and Charlie Jacob (12.6) and has consistently produced his just under 11 points a game around the basket.
“We are 10-12,” said Streeter. “We have had our fare share of injuries from key players which has hurt us. We are just getting back healthy as a unit, which is great especially getting ready for sections.
“I feel that we are working hard in practices and the guys are focused to making the right adjustments for us to have success come sections. I think we need to work on moving the ball more and getting more rotations when we are in our half court set. If we can make these adjustments I feel this will help us take those right steps into the right direction.”
Streeter is one of the top unsigned centers in the state of Minnesota and he is still looking at area D3 programs and junior college programs.
“Right now James has a lot of interest from the MIAC,” said Ware. “Hamline, Augsburg, and St Thomas as well as a number of D1 junior college programs like NDSCS and Lake Region State are showing interest.
“He is also hearing from a few D2 schools, and also Mississippi Valley State. A lot of the D2 schools are very impressed in James’s improvement from this spring/summer (Grassroots) circuit. He is definitely a steal for who ever brings him in next season. I’m very excited to see him develop year after year. The great thing about James is that he is hungry to improve and keep developing.”
