Wisconsin Dells Player of the Week: 12-28 – 1/2
This week’s candidates:
Tywhon Pickford, junior, Maple Grove
Tywhon is starting to reach the potential that we have seen for years. On Tuesday he put 31 points on juggernaut Apple Valley, had 15 in a big win over Blaine and then shot 10-for-14 for 25 points in a victory over Iowa City West at the Timberwolves Shootout.
Kyle Kuznia, senior, Centennial
In his first varsity start of his career, Kuznia hit 4-of-4 from the perimeter and logged 16 points against Chisago Lakes, capped with throwing down a nasty dunk. Can he help Centennial turn around?
Duoth Gach, sophomore, Austin
Duoth took a pass from his twin brother Both in the closing seconds of their Winona State Holiday Tournament game against Washburn — tied 55-55 — and sunk a fading corner 3 to win. He tallied 18 points, but none were more important than the last 3.
Zeke Delain, senior, Elk River
In a 20-point effort for Zeke, his last shot against Minneapolis South was a clutch buzzer-beating 3 to win 68-67.
Ray Whitlock, senior, St. Louis Park
Ray had an incredibly well-rounded, career-highlight performance against Edina, scoring a team-leading 28 points and also leading the Orioles in steals and assists. The rejuvenated Orioles are sitting at 9-3 and lost to Edina by two points.
